British Pop Singer Knighted by Prince William

Sir Roderick David Stewart, aka Rod Stewart, was officially declared a knight by Prince William in the palace ceremony. It all took place in Buckingham Palace on Tuesday. The 71 year old singer-songwriter knelt before the prince as the sword touched his shoulders... And voilà, he was granted the honorary title of knighthood!

“We talked about music and he said: ‘It’s great that you’re still going,’ and I said: ‘I have to — I’ve got eight children!’” said Mr. Stewart, or rather Sir Roderick.

“He congratulated me on my long career — and I said how happy this made me,” he added. “I just wish my mum and dad had been here to see it."
